Shira Jaye Kapplin is a partner at Rakoczy Molino Mazzochi Siwik LLP. Ms. Kapplin's practice focuses primarily on complex patent litigation.
Patent and Complex Commercial Litigation
Ms. Kapplin has extensive and varied patent litigation experience, including cases arising under the Hatch-Waxman Amendments to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. She has been involved in every stage of patent litigation, including pre-suit investigations and strategy, fact and expert discovery, drafting summary judgment, Markman hearings, managing pre-trial activities, and preparing witnesses and examinations at trial. Ms. Kapplin also has experience before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. She also has a broad range of experience in complex commercial litigation cases, including trade secret and breach of contract cases.
Previous Experience
Prior to joining RMMS, Ms. Kapplin an in-house intellectual property attorney at Abbott Laboratories. Prior to joining Abbott, Ms. Kapplin was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP. From 2003-2004, she was a law clerk to the Honorable Diane P. Wood, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
